The location was also ideal for my then school-aged 10 year-old son, Devin, and I worked 15 minutes away. The grade school, high school and public library are just down the block and there is a beautiful park right in the subdivision. The White Oaks neighborhood is very welcoming and my neighbors on either side know my family, pets and what kind of activity should or shouldn't be going on at my house. It's nice to know your neighbors keep an eye open for your kids and your animals, it just adds another layer of security and good will to any community. As we know, the gathering place in any house is usually the kitchen. As the seasons change, so does the kitchen in this house. In the spring and summer months, much of our time is spent outside on the deck barbecuing and enjoying the flowers, blooming lilac tree, the lush view, all the bird activity or playing with our two dogs Trekker and Peyton. In the fall and winter, the gas starter, wood-burning fireplace is a really nice feature to have and we use it almost daily. We still tend to use the grill even into the cold months because it right next to the back deck door. We like the entire downstairs area because it was designed to be open and has been a great feature for football season. We can be cooking and entertaining in the kitchen but not miss the game going on in the family room. When my son was a teenager, the large basement served as a hangout and our home was able to accommodate both of our social gatherings at the same time. This home is large enough internally and externally to accommodate the needs of a family as they grow and change through the years. Now that my son is grown and my location for work has changed it is time for someone new to make it their home.
